Significant Industrial Users Discharge Permit Reissuance for July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2029. 

Public Comment Period
The Town of Culpeper’s publicly owned treatment works (POTWs) manages and treats domestic and 
industrial wastes. There are Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements with respect to
POTWs and industrial waste dischargers or users (IUs) under the Clean Water Act (CWA) and
implementing regulations under Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Parts 122, 123, 124, and 
403 and chapter I, subchapter N. 

A POTWs obligations are determined by the terms of its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System
(NPDES) permit and EPA's regulations. The Town is required to issue discharge permits to Significant 
Industrial Users (SIUs). These are to be reviewed and reissued every 5 years. These permits are due for 
reissuance by July 1, 2024. These SIU permits are available for public review and comment. If you would

Services for copies of these permits. This public comment period ends on June 30, 2024.
