Culpeper, Virginia, named the “Prettiest Town in Virginia” by Architectural Digest, 2018, combines small town charm with big city convenience. Less than an hour's drive from Washington, DC , Fredericksburg, and Charlottesville, Culpeper is the perfect place to escape the congestion and enjoy a little country living.

The Town of Culpeper is best described as a place with rich history and modern charm. Growth over the past few years, has led Culpeper to build new schools, dining, and shopping. The historic downtown footprint is a huge tourist draw, attracting visitors from up and down the East Coast. Encompassed with small businesses, fine dining, and the infamous LOVE sculpture.Residents and visitors alike can spend the day shopping unique boutiques, tasting our local craft brews, or stopping by the Museum of Culpeper History located at the Historic Train Depot to learn more about Culpeper's past.

If you enjoy the outdoors, you will find all aspects of nature surrounding you. There are several parks to experience nature at its best, including the Shenandoah National Park, which is less than 35 minutes from downtown.

The Town also plays host to two lakes: Lake Culpeper, a 255 acre lake, offering watercraft rentals Spring through Fall, where you can spend the day paddling, exploring and fishing. Mountain Run Lake, a 75 acre lake is perfect for family gatherings, with picnic shelters, a dog park, and abundant play areas for children. The Culpeper Sports Complex is located just minutes from downtown, a 59 acre complex designed for local youth sports and regional tournaments.Surrounded by scenic byways, Culpeper is known for cycling, and just north of town, is Burke Farm, a 300 acre mountain biker's paradise.

Culpeper takes pride in offering year round events, some of the most popular include an early Spring Mardi Gras inspired Street Festival, followed by the annual Gnarly Hops & Barley Festival, and the start of the local Farmer's Market season, that runs April through November.During the summer, folks enjoy the 3rd Thursday Concert Series, 4th of July, and the Culpeper Gran Fondo and Triathlon series. The fall brings Culpeper's Annual Harvest Days Farm Tour, the Century Cycling Race Series, Culpeper AirFest, and Holiday inspired street fairs.

Arts are alive and well in Culpeper, with galleries, local classes and workshops being offered year round. Unique to Culpeper, the Library of Congress, Packard Theatre Campus hosts free movies every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.
